Junior Blues Update |
This is our 4th season promoting the Queen of the South Junior Blues and each season it becomes more and more enjoyable to see more JB’s and their families coming along to Palmerston. Last season, after the Cup Final journey, we saw a huge surge in interest in the club with around 800 young fans joining the Junior Blues. This season we are heading upwards of 600, which will be our second best ever tally. Junior Blues numbers Season 2005-06 135, 2006-07 430, 2007-08 480, 2008-09 810, 2009-10 600. We will be building the campaign over the coming weeks to increase interest, especially for those who haven’t re-signed this season.
We’ve now got some lockable storage at the ground, which has allowed us to provide a better service to our young fan base. At the Raith game we experimented with a mini version of Blue & White, the Junior Blues magazine. The idea is to give JB’s their own mini match programme complementing our larger edition which goes out in the post to all Junior Blues 4 times a season.
It contains things to do such as wordsearches, spot the difference, quizzes etc. giving them something to do in the run up to the game and at half-time. It has a teamsheet to fill in the Matchday squad names, and an autograph section. We also give all the JB’s a free pencil to fill the answers in.
We also run a free draw at each game with prizes announced at half time. So far it’s proved to be a success and was repeated at the Partick match. We’ve three new volunteer fans to add to the Trust Matchday team but we still need more so if you are interested in helping, simply contact any of the team, Christine, Louise, Shannon, Nicola, Martin, Karen or Dave on matchdays. Even if you can only help for one game it will give someone a rest. It’s only 90 minutes before the game and 15 mins at half-time. Dont be shy........
