Keano strike saves Queens |
To the game itself. If we’d only known beforehand that Right Said Fred had given up trying to hit the charts and, with their young cousin, had started refereeing games under the pseudonym ‘The Collinis’ I’d have dug out my ‘I’m too Sexy for New Broomfield’ CD. Mind you, they did turn out to be just a tad better than both the blind guys who refereed the Bristol City vs Palace game and the complete twazzock who, despite only one late tackle in the whole game, managed NINE bookings and two red cards during our first home game against Raith last week. I think, apart from the glaring luminous outfits they were wearing, and their poor singing voices, the only criticism I can throw at the ref was him taking no action when Bob Harris was attacked in the second half in a tackle which, down English St on a Saturday night, would have seen the Airdrie player in the clink for the night. We’ll skip the first half and most of the second as, basically nothing happened. In fact, at one stage, I thought the stadium announcer was going to apologise and tell us we were going to get our money back, but since we couldn’t make out what he was saying anyway, he might have and we never noticed. Keano came on and within minutes took up a great position in the box and from a free kick from the right nodded in to put Queens one up. After that I certainly expected the South to push on and take the 3pts but Airdrie had obviously had an extra shredded wheat and with some Queens players looking as if the strain of full time training was taking its toll, the Diamonds deservedly scored and took a point from one of the worst games I’ve seen since last week. Let’s hope for some better fayre against both the Pars and the Jags in the coming seven days. words by RobinhoBack
