Queens Launch Community Football Project

Queen of the South Supporters Trust - Palmerston Park, Dumfries >>

Queen of the South FC launched their Football in the Community programme today at a bright and sunny King George V park. Children from several local Primary schools took part in the fun sessions organised by Gordon Hyslop and the QOS Youth Coaches/players. Chairman David Rae came along to lend his support. "It's great to see so many kids turning up on the first day and enjoying themselves. That's what it's all about'

Ian McCall also took time out from his pre-match preparations to come along and say hello. Dougie the Doonhamer was also a big hit and judging by some of the saves he was making we might have a goalkeeper on our hands!!

The Supporters Trust has designed a new logo and will be providing t-shirts for all the young players who register with the scheme. As well as a free FITC QOS t-shirt anyone who registers through their school and comes along to the sessions (10-11:30am on home matchdays) will also receive a free match ticket.

We are also pleased to see Jim Thomson become our schools ambassador. Jim, along with other first team squad members, as well as some of the younger squad members will be visiting schools in the region to talk about football, coaching, soccer skills and health matters. The Supporters Trust fully supports this venture and will be actively pursuing ways to help the club in the coming months.
