Trusts meet at Rugby Park

Queen of the South Supporters Trust - Palmerston Park, Dumfries >>
Board members and some new Supporters Trust volunteers gathered at Rugby Park this weekend for a Board Member Development course, run by James Proctor and Elaine Millar of Supporters Direct Scotland. Trust members from Queen of the South, Kilmarnock and Hamilton Accies attended the session held in the Kilmarnock FC owned Park Hotel. The 6 hour event covered a wide range of subjects ranging from Shareholding and what it means to Trusts, Due Governance, the structure of Trust boards, responsibilities, stakeholders and good meeting practice. It was also an opportunity to discuss the issues that are common to Trusts and to see how other groups are attempting to combat these issues. Several Trusts have gone through similar lulls like ourselves where, having had the initial surge of interest after the Trust is formed, the novelty wears off and there are fewer and fewer volunteers to take projects forward. However, many have come through these periods and are stronger for it. The Queens Trust has seen a rise in volunteers coming forward this season to help both the Trust and our main project, the Junior Blues. The training course was also an excellent reminder to all of us involved, of our responsibilities to our main stakeholders. Our members, the staff at Queens, our hundreds of Junior Blues, their families, our Community and of course Queen of the South Football Club itself. Thanks to Elaine and James for an excellently run event and thanks to the Killie Trust for providing such an excellent venue. We currently have an interim committee of nine and are hoping to co-opt 3 more taking us to 12 for this season. If anyone would like to get involved please use the Contact Us link on the main page or come along to either the High St stall on Saturday mornings (home matches only) or to the East Stand Trust stall on Matchdays.Back
